Motorcycles collided on Fresno County road and killed riders, CHP said. Both identified

Two men on separate motorcycles killed when they collided were identified Monday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office.

Officers were called about 9 p.m. Thursday to Mt. Whitney west of Garfield avenues after the fatal crash, the California Highway Patrol said.

The men killed in the collision were Adell Vaughn, 43, and Catlin Lewis, 38, both of Riverdale, the coroner’s office said.

A passerby reported the crash.

The CHP said the investigation was ongoing, but said the motorcycles appeared to be headed in opposite directions and crashed for an unknown reason.

Lewis was on an unknown make of motorcycle and Vaughn was on a Yamaha, CHP said. Neither was equipped with the appropriate lighting during the nighttime hours, CHP said.

The men were known to ride motorcycles together, CHP said. Neither was suspected of being impaired.

Both were ejected and neither one of them was wearing a helmet, CHP said.
