SEMINOLE — A 38-year-old St. Petersburg motorcyclist was killed on Park Boulevard N early Tuesday after crashing into a pickup truck, troopers say.

The crash took place about 6 a.m. on Park Boulevard N and 84th Lane N.

The 38-year-old man was riding a motorcycle east “at a high rate” of speed in the outside lane of Park Boulevard N, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

In the opposite direction, a 38-year-old St. Petersburg man was driving a pickup west on Park Boulevard N, then entered the left turn lane to turn onto 84th Lane N.

The pickup driver turned left and was struck by the motorcycle, troopers say. The motorcycle broke into two pieces and the rider was thrown onto the roadway.

The motorcyclist died at the crash scene. He was wearing a helmet. The pickup driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.

The Highway Patrol did not release any other information about the incident. The agency also did not release the names of those involved in the crash due to its interpretation of Marsy’s Law, an amendment to Florida’s Constitution that was meant to protect crime victims but deprives the public of information that had long been available under the state’s public records laws.
