WEST PALM BEACH — A 39-year-old West Palm Beach man died early Saturday morning when he crashed his motorcycle into a semi-tractor at Okeechobee Boulevard and Florida's Turnpike.

Wayne Gerald Doucet was driving his 2022 Harley-Davidson Sportster westbound on Okeechobee Boulevard at about 4:26 a.m. when he failed to stop at a red light, a report from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office says. The driver of a 2015 Volvo D11 semi-tractor, a 34-year-old West Palm Beach man, was making an eastbound turn from the turnpike onto Okeechobee at that moment, and Doucet crashed into the semi's fuel tank area.

Both vehicles came to a stop at the intersection. Doucet, who had turned 39 on Friday, was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 5 a.m., deputies said. The truck driver was not injured.

The sheriff's office report indicates that drugs/and or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
