Motorcyclist dead after COTA van crash in Milo-Grogan neighborhood

A motorcyclist died after a crash with a Central Ohio Transit Authority van Tuesday evening in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood.

Keaton Reed, 25, of the Hilltop neighborhood, was pronounced dead at a local hospital soon after the crash, which happened shortly before 5 p.m. at Cleveland and East Third avenues.

Jawan Sullivan, 26, said he was driving the COTA van, a 2018 Ford Transit, south down Cleveland Avenue and was turning left onto East Third Avenue when the motorcycle, a 2003 Suzuki GSX-R1000K Reed was driving, hit the van at the intersection while driving north down Cleveland Avenue, according to the Columbus police crash report.

Reed was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where he died, according to police. Two witnesses said Reed was driving recklessly prior to the crash.

Sullivan was not injured. Both vehicles sustained damage and were towed from the scene.
