Motorcyclist dead after crash in Highland County

HIGHLAND COUNTY — One man is dead after crashing his motorcycle in Highland County over the weekend, according to Virginia State Police.

VSP is investigating the single vehicle crash that happened Saturday, Sept. 24. Just after 3 p.m. on U.S. 250, near Va. 601 in Highland County, a 2022 Harley Davidson crashed. The motorcycle was traveling east on U.S. 250, police said, and ran off the right side of the road and hit an embankment.

The motorcycle was driven by William Hrovat, 68, of Monterey. Hrovat was wearing a helmet and died at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
