Motorcyclist dies after colliding with car at Five Points Parkway and Arnold Boulevard

A motorcyclist who was ejected following a two-vehicle crash late Wednesday in northwest Abilene has died, according to an Abilene Police Department news release.

The collision occurred about 9 p.m. when Joseph Grumbles, 33, of Abilene was driving a 1994 Honda motorcycle southbound in the 400 block of Arnold Boulevard. As a northbound 1969 Chevrolet Camaro was turning west into Five Points Parkway, the motorcycle struck the front passenger door, the release said.

The motorcyclist was ejected, landing in the roadway. He was transported to a hospital with critical injuries and died early Thursday, police said.

The driver of the car was not injured, and an investigation continues.

Wednesday's crash brings Abilene's traffic fatalities in 2022 to 18 with 14 collisions. At least four of the collisions involved motorcycles.

In 2021, the city's total was 16, and the record is 21, police said.
