A motorcyclist was found dead Wednesday morning on Highway 118 in Somis, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP was called around 7:30 a.m. on a report of an unconscious person on the side of eastbound Highway 118 west of Bradley Road, near the Somis Nut House. Officers arrived to find the man wearing a helmet and soon located his motorcycle, said Officer Jorge Alfaro, a spokesman for the Ventura area CHP.

The man, identified by the CHP as 35-year-old Jesus Ochoa Ceja of Port Hueneme, had been riding a 1992 Honda CBR 600F2 eastbound on the 118 at an unknown speed, Alfaro said.

Investigators found he made an unsafe turning movement to the right and hit a metal pole. He was thrown from the bike, sustaining fatal injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, Alfaro said. Any witnesses are asked to call the CHP's Ventura office at 805-662-2640.
