Motorcyclist injured Wednesday in crash in Britton

BRITTON — A motorcycle driver suffered serious injuries in a crash Wednesday afternoon in Britton.

Michigan State Police troopers were dispatched at 4:44 p.m. to the crash near the intersection of South Main Street and Wells Street in Britton, a news release from the Monroe Post said. Troopers determined a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with one rider was traveling south on South Main Street and while crossing over railroad tracks lost control of the motorcycle and crashed just south of Wells Street. The operator fell from the motorcycle during the crash and suffered life-threatening injuries.

The operator, a 64-year-old man from Tecumseh, was transported by Lenawee Community Ambulance to a hospital where he remains in critical condition, police said.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash and this incident remains under investigation, police said. Anyone having information about the incident is asked to contact Trooper Thomas Markey of the Monroe Post at 734-242-3500.

Troopers were assisted on scene by personnel from the Ridgeway Township Fire Department and Lenawee Community Ambulance.
