Update: Motorcyclist killed in accident near East Tipp Middle School

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — A motorcyclist died just before 3 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Tippecanoe County Roads 300 North and 725 East, according to the sheriff's office.

The motorcyclist was identified as Phillip Miller, 69, of Lafayette, Tippecanoe County Coroner Carrie Costello said about 7:15 p.m. Friday.

Miller was westbound on County Road 300 North about 2:35 p.m. Friday. A westbound Kia Soul driven by Kaylee Strauch, age 20, of West Lafayette, was stopped in front of Miller's westbound bike waiting to make a left turn onto County Road 725 East, according to the sheriff's office.

Miller did not stop and struck the back of the Kia. He was thrown from his motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries, according to the sheriff's office.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Strauch suffered minor injuries in the accident.
