A traffic collision left a motorcyclist dead in Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.

The motorcyclist was identified by police as 48-year-old Robert Moore.

Police responded to reports of a collision near Southern Avenue and 16th Street at approximately 3 p.m., according to department spokesperson Sgt. Vincent Cole.

Officers learned that David Moreno, 29, had been driving a sedan and was turning south on to 18th Street when his vehicle collided with Moore's motorcycle.

Moore was thrown from his motorcycle and landed on the roof of the sedan. Moreno stopped momentarily and then kept driving with Moore on the roof until he crashed into two more vehicles, Cole said.

Moore died from his injuries at the scene, Cole said.

Witnesses followed Moreno before directing officers to his location, where he was arrested. Moreno had exhibited signs of impairment during the investigation, Cole said.

The investigation is ongoing.
