FLETCHER - An Arden man was killed on March 21 after the motorcycle he was driving collided head-on with a vehicle on Naples Road in Henderson County.

According to North Carolina Highway Patrol Troop G Public Information Officer Rohn Silvers, troopers arrived on the scene of the crash at 5:47 p.m. March 21 at the intersection of US 25 and Naples Road in Fletcher. The driver of the motorcycle, Timothy Sparks, 62, was transported to AdventHealth Hendersonville, where he died from his injuries.

"A 1998 Dodge Neon, operated by Sue Bayne of Hendersonville, was traveling north on US 25 at the Naples Road intersection. A 2013 Suzuki motorcycle, operated by Timothy Sparks, was traveling south on US 25. The Dodge Neon failed to yield and made a left turn, colliding head-on with the motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle was ejected coming to rest in the southbound lane of travel," Silvers said in an email to the Times-News on March 22.

Neither alcohol nor speed is a factor in the collision at this time, Silvers said. No charges have been filed as of March 22, and the investigation is ongoing.
