Jul. 18—A 43-year-old Longview man died on the way to a hospital after he was involved in a motorcycle accident on southbound Interstate 5 just north of Maytown on Sunday.

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) identified the man Monday morning as Richard L. Oxford.

He was driving a red 2021 Road Glide FLTRX motorcycle in the far right lane of southbound I-5 when, just before 4:45 p.m., he struck a silver Honda CR-V while merging left into the center lane shortly before mile marker 96, according to WSP.

The driver of the CR-V, a 46-year-old Auburn woman, was not injured.

Oxford was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to WSP.

One lane of southbound I-5 was blocked for three hours and 17 minutes Sunday evening while emergency crews responded to the crash.
