Motorcyclist killed in crash Wednesday night

Sep. 14—MAHTOWA TOWNSHIP — A man was killed in a crash Wednesday night when his motorcycle collided with a car at the intersection of county roads 61 and 4.

A man driving a car was turning south onto County Road 61 from County Road 4 at 9:10 p.m. when a motorcycle traveling north on County Road 61 struck the car, according to a news release from the Carlton County Sheriff's Office.

The driver of the car sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene. Neither vehicle had passengers. The motorcycle driver was not wearing a helmet, the news release said.

The names of the drivers are being held until families are notified.

The sheriff's office and Minnesota State Patrol are investigating the crash. Life Link III, the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office, Essentia Moose Lake EMS and the Mahtowa, Blackhoof and Barnum fire departments also responded to the scene.
