FORT MITCHELL — A motorcyclist is dead following an Interstate 75 crash Saturday afternoon in Kenton County, Fort Mitchell Police Chief Andrew Schierberg said.

At 4:45 p.m., a 20-year-old man was driving southbound on I-75 when his motorcycle crashed around the 187.2 mile marker.

Officers found him deceased at the scene.

It appears the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the crash, Schierberg said. He said excessive speed is likely a factor.

Police are not releasing the motorcyclist's name at this time, in order to provide the family time to notify relatives and friends.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who has information that would potentially further the investigation is encouraged to call the Fort Mitchell Police Department at 859-331-2823.

The Kenton County Police Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is handling the investigation.
