Motorcyclist killed in motor-vehicle collision on Glenstone south of Chestnut

A motorcyclist died after a crash involving an SUV on Glenstone Avenue south of Chestnut Expressway.

Springfield police spokeswoman Cris Swaters said the crash was reported at 3:08 p.m. Thursday after the motorcycle collided with a Ford Explorer.

According to police, a Yamaha driven by Deverin King, 18, of Springfield, was southbound on Glenstone Ave. The Ford Explorer, driven by Villalobos Chico, was exiting a parking lot and was struck in the side by the motorcycle.

She said lifesaving attempts were made but the motorcycle rider, King, died at the scene.

"The circumstances are still under investigation but impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash," Swaters said.

Chico, the single occupant of the Ford Explorer was not injured, she said.

This is Springfield's 10th traffic fatality of 2023.
