CENTERVILLE – The motorcyclist who was thrown from his Harley Davidson during an accident at the intersection of Old Stage Road and Old Falmouth Road yesterday afternoon is in stable condition, a Cape Cod Hospital spokeswoman said this morning.

Michael Russell, 51, of Sandwich was seriously injured after his motorcycle collided with a Toyota Sequoia driven by 17-year-old Crighton Thornton of West Barnstable shortly after 6 p.m., according to police.

Police said yesterday that Thornton had stopped and looked both ways before entering the intersection but that he did not see Russell.

Russell suffered back and arm injuries after being thrown from his motorcycle by the collision, police said.Thornton was cited for failing to use care in starting.

Because of poor visibility, the intersection is dangerous and has been the scene of several crashes recently, Centerville-Osterville-Marstons Mills Fire Capt. Brady Rogers said.
