Motorcyclist veers into opposite lane, dies in collision with an SUV in Fresno County

UPDATE: Ducati motorcycle rider killed in Hwy. 168 crash in Fresno County foothills identified

A motorcyclist was killed Sunday afternoon after colliding with an SUV in Fresno County.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Mike Salas said the crash happened at 2:30 p.m. at Highway 168 and Gooseberry Lane near Prather.

The 59-year-old Ducati sports bike rider from Fresno was going west on Highway 168, west of Gooseberry Road, when he entered a curve in the roadway, lost control and slid into the eastbound lane. The motorcycle collided with a Toyota 4Runner, Salas said.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The Toyota driver was not injured.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the collision.
