Motorist airlifted after crash on Beltline
Feb. 10—A motorist was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital with injuries sustained when the vehicle he was in collided with an 18-wheeler at Gordon Terry Parkway and Beltline Road Southwest about 1:30 p.m. today, according to Decatur police.
Decatur police spokeswoman Irene Cardenas-Martinez said the identity and the condition of the male driver was unknown, as of 4 p.m. Friday.
Police had the northbound lane on the Beltline at entrance ramp onto Gordon Terry Parkway blocked. The silver sedan was underneath the 18-wheeler and Cardenas-Martinez said first-responders had to rip the top of the car off to excavate the driver. The sedan had a Lawrence County license plate.
