A 30-year-old Moundville man faces a capital murder charge in connection with a Saturday night shooting that killed two Tuscaloosa residents, police say.

Around 6:16 p.m. Saturday, officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department and the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit responded to the report of a shooting in the 3000 block of 20th Street. Officers found two adult men with gunshot wounds inside the house.

Both men were taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, said Capt. Marty Sellers of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit.

The shooting victims have been identified as Mitchell Lewis, 66, and Kenny Walker, 64. Lewis died from his injuries at the hospital Saturday night. Walker died around 7:20 a.m. Sunday at the hospital. Walker is the father of the 30-year-old suspect, Devin Martez Quinzy, Sellers said.

After an investigation, police developed Quinzy as a suspect in the shooting. He later surrendered to police. Quinzy was charged with capital murder and is now being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond.

Quinzy was initially charged with murder and attempted murder, but his charges were upgraded after Walker's death. Police said Quinzy was charged with capital murder because the shooting resulted in two deaths.

Investigators said there was no evidence of an argument before the shooting.
