Mount Everest closes to climbers on virus fears

Mount Everest has now become one of the latest high profile attractions to shutter over coronavirus fears.

Nepal made the call on Friday. China closed its side of the mountain a day earlier.

And not just Everest, all of the peaks of Himalayas have been closed.

Nepal issues hundreds of permits to climb Everest each year, worth over $4 million.

The loss of tourism will also have a trickle down effect to travel agencies, sherpa guides, and other local workers -- many of whom rely on the climbing season for their entire year's income.
