Mount Union faculty art show starts Oct. 5
University of Mount Union will open its annual Faculty Art Exhibit on Oct. 5 at the Sally Otto Gallery.
The exhibit features work by Shannon Hamilton, Margo Miller, Nick Muffet and Michael Schmidt.
Hamilton is an Ohio-based artist who focuses on sculpture through a variety of mixed mediums such as metal, wood and aggregates. She received a master of fine arts from Kent State University with a concentration in three-dimensional practice of sculpture.
Miller, The Dr. Robert T. and Phyllis S. White Endowed Chair at Mount Union, has been faculty at Mount Union since 2004. Miller’s teaching includes all levels of drawing, Designd, painting and senior capstones. Her artwork has been accepted in numerous juried exhibits, including the 2021 Butler Midyear in Youngstown, Ohio.
Muffet is a marketer turned designer from Akron. His professional creative work spans interaction design, branding, print, information design, packaging, and photo-video. Muffet received his master of fine arts in visual communication design from Kent State University.
Schmidt is a painter and animator from Akron who received his bachelor of fine arts from the Cleveland Institute of Art, and his master of fine art from California State University at Long Beach. Schmidt currently works as a freelance artist and an adjunct professor at University of Mount Union and University of Akron.
The exhibit is free and open to the public through Nov. 2. An artists’ reception will be 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 5.
