Mount Vernon Area Thanksgiving 2020 Grocery Store Hours

MOUNT VERNON, VA — While Thanksgiving Day feasts are likely to be a little smaller this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, that doesn't mean we're less likely to forget the cranberry sauce, the gravy or the whipped topping for the pumpkin pie.

It's a terrible feeling — but, luckily, there's a list of grocery stores that will be open in the Mount Vernon/Route 1 area for those emergency and last-minute shopping trips.

Retail giants Target and Walmart will not be open on Thanksgiving. Both chains made the decision in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement released on its website, Target said the company's goal is to "make the holiday shopping experience simple, safe, and stress-free."

Here are the hours for Mount Vernon area grocery stores that will be open on Thanksgiving Day, along with a list of those that won't:

  • Safeway: 1624 Belle View Blvd, Alexandria, VA 22307. Hours: 12 a.m.-7 p.m. 7900 Fort Hunt Rd, Alexandria, VA 22308. Hours: 5 a.m.-7 p.m. 8646 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22309. Hours: 5 a.m.-7 p.m.

  • Aldi: 8256 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22309. Hours: closed.

  • Shoppers: 7660 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306. Hours: 6 a.m.-5 p.m.

  • Giant: 6800 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306. Hours: 6 a.m.-3 p.m.

  • Walmart: 7910 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306. Hours: closed. 6303 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306. Hours: closed.

  • Target: 6600 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306. Hours: closed.

  • Costco: 7940 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22306. Hours: closed.

  • Wegmans: 7905 Hilltop Village Center Drive Alexandria, VA 22315. Hours: 6 a.m.-4 p.m.
