It looks like you won’t have to worry on missing out on a limited-edition Mountain Dew flavor! Maui Burst, which was exclusively released at Dollar General last fall, is now a permanent flavor.

If you haven’t tried the flavor yet, it combines the taste of Mountain Dew with a punch of pineapple. There’s no wrong time to sip this tropical beverage, but is anyone else thinking this would make an amazing base for a summertime cocktail?!

“Dollar General fans have always embraced the MTN DEW Maui Burst flavor with enthusiasm. Their excitement translated on social media and at the registers,” Nicole Portwood, vice president, marketing, MTN DEW, said in a press release.

Mountain Dew Maui Burst will remain a Dollar General exclusive flavor, and you’ll be able to get it beginning on Feb. 1. Each 16-ounce can is only $1, so use this as your excuse to make it part of your regular sip!

It’s a good day, because we just found out that there’s a new Mountain Dew flavor worth searching high and low for. It might be fall, but Mountain Dew Maui Burst tastes like the vacation we didn’t get to take this summer!

The bright yellow and green 16-ounce can is decorated with pineapples and tikis. The flavor is described on the packaging as “Dew with a blast of pineapple flavor with other natural flavors.” So if you like the original soda and pineapple, it sounds like you’ll be into this new sip.

I found it! New Dollar General exclusive flavor of Mountain Dew, Maui Burst, “Dew with a blast of pineapple flavor”. This was set for release in mid October but, as usual with most releases, you can find it early with a little hunting. Pineapple might just be my favorite candy/beverage flavor so this is an extremely exciting release for me. I’ve been waiting patiently for a release of a pineapple flavor that actually tastes good and isn’t coconut watered down (I’m pointing at you Pineapple Orange Mango Kickstart. You NASTY). ~~~ Anywaaaaaay THE REVIEW: Upon cracking open the 16oz beauty of a can (my preferred size and container) you are definitely greeted with a pleasant, but not overwhelming pineapple aroma. The taste is pretty much the same. The pineapple is obvious but shares the stage well with the signature Mtn Dew kick and the “other natural flavors”. I give it a 8/10. I didn’t like it quite as much as I thought but this is no doubt a good flavor. EDIT: I changed my rating from 7.5 to 8/10. I’ve been liking it the more I drink it. Actually climbing up to a top spot for me. ~~~ Comparison (see 2nd picture): I went a little overboard and picked up some of my favorite pineapple sodas to compare. Honestly out of all 4, the Jarritos is still my favorite. It contains real cane sugar (as all Mexican soft drinks do) and that’s hard to beat. But, if you think the pineapple flavor is overwhelming in a traditional pineapple soda, Maui Burst is worth a try as the flavor is reigned in a bit. I will still be buying Maui Burst over Jarritos tho for now since they are only $1 a can and the container is bigger. Oh and this was my first time trying Goya’s take on the flavor. I’m not impressed. My least favorite of the 4. Don’t worry if you haven’t seen the Mountain Dew Maui Burst on shelves yet. The flavor is available at Dollar General and is exclusive to the store with an official release date of Oct. 16. Plenty of people have been sharing photos of the cans on Instagram and Reddit, so it looks like you’ll have a good shot at finding it before the launch.

There are Dollar General locations in 44 states, but if you happen to be far from one, people are already listing Mountain Dew Maui Burst on eBay. It might be worth it to pay for it at a higher price, because, as YouTube channel TonyTone Food Reviews describes it, it’s heavy on the Mountain Dew flavor, but has a nice sour pineapple taste at the end. Another YouTuber, Damian Reviews, said the flavor gives off Baja Blast vibes, which is a long-beloved flavor.

This flavor might have you feeling a bit skeptical, but we think the pros at Mountain Dew know what they’re doing, so give the Maui Burst a shot if you like the original. Plus, we’ll do whatever we can to feel like we’re on vacation.
