Mountain lion tranquilized, captured in Logan

LOGAN, Utah (ABC4) — Logan Police captured a mountain lion running loose in the neighborhood on Tuesday.

At around 6:40 a.m. on Feb. 13, police responded to Logan City Cemetery, located at 1000 North 1000 East, on a report of a mountain lion in the area.

An officer reportedly spotted the animal and notified Utah State University Police, who then issued an alert to the USU community.

Hillcrest Elementary was also notified as a precaution.

Police said the lion eventually moved away from campus and ended up in the backyard of a house just north of 1640 East 1400 North.

A Division of Natural Resources biologist at the scene was then able to tranquilize the lion before capturing it.

“Logan Police would like to thank the quick response from the Division of Natural Resources and USU police for their help during this incident,” a press release states.
