On the move in the Murrysville area for the week of June 24, 2021

Courtney Brenner of Murrysville was recently inducted into the Phi Kappa Phi honor society at Duquesne University. She is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be inducted annually.

The society was founded in 1897 to recognize excellence in all academic disciplines.

----Kurlya Yan of Murrysville was part of the "Asians in the Diaspora" planning committee at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine in Scranton.

A member of the school's class of 2024, Yan and members of the school's Center for Student Engagement, Diversity & Inclusion presented a series of events this spring celebrating Asian culture.

----Julia Snyder of Murrysville was among the five finalists for the Saint Vincent College President's Award.

Snyder is pursuing a dual degree in English and communications at Saint Vincent.

----The following students were named to the spring 2021 dean's list at Saint Vincent College:

—Delmont: Zachary Amentrout (finance/mathematics), Courtney Mattucci (biology), Rebecca Preston (digital art and media), Kendyl Silvestri (early childhood education) and Benjamin Wohlin (finance)

—Export: Evan Portman (history education) and Jordan Sabol (business data analytics)

—Murrysville: Anthony Cardillo (information technology), Christian Ciecierski (biochemistry/engineering), Maggie Klingensmith (early childhood education), Natalie Lamagna (environmental science), Justin Massetto (music performance), Philip Pavlick (computer systems), John Poling (liberal arts), Brie Prodanovich (engineering), Julia Snyder (English/communications), Brendan Thiele (business) and Ethan Yant (mathematics/engineering)

----Julia Stein was named to the spring 2021 dean's list at Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio.

----Zachary Snider of Murrysville was named to the spring 2021 dean's list at Lebanon Valley College in Annville.

----The following students were named to the spring 2021 dean's list at Slippery Rock University:

—Delmont: Belinda Byrne, Ryan Collette, Carly Litz and Katie Pickup.

—Export: Carrie Canobbio, Aryanna Fink, Zachary Freilino, Olivia Marcoz, Shaun Pursley, Jillian Satterfield, Alayna Wagner and Brenna Wright.

—Murrysville: Jacob Brand, Jacob Brush, Eric Festa, Lily Hoffman, Tiffany Jolayemi, Victoria Monroe, Tyler Parsonage, Jacob Roman, Stephen Simpson and Jessica Starrett.

----Mary Cate McCarthy and Ethan Leicht are the winners of the essay contest and recipients of the Bob Hope/Band Director Award, presented annually by the Franklin Regional Band Boosters to senior band and band front students.

McCarthy received a $2,000 scholarship and plans to attend Penn State in the fall to pursue a degree in business or education.

Leicht received a $750 scholarship and also plans to attend Penn State, to pursue a degree in data science.

----Michael Kemerer was among 5,300 students to graduate from the University of Iowa

Kemerer earned a master's degree in finance.

----Kenneth Bostard of Delmont was named to the spring 2021 dean's list at the University of Iowa.

----1st Summit Bank held a grand opening for a new branch in Murrysville on June 5.

The new location is 1st Summit's 17th branch across five counties, and is at 4510 William Penn Highway.
