Avengers: Endgame

After the devastating events of "Avengers: Infinity War" the universe is in ruins due to the efforts of the Mad Titan, Thanos. With the help of remaining allies, the Avengers must assemble once more in order to undo Thanos' actions and restore order to the universe once and for all, no matter what consequences may be in store.

With a Tomatometer Score of 95 percent and an Audience Score of 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, "Avengers: Endgame" has garnered plenty of praise since its release on April 26. The Observer's Oliver Jones said, "What you will be getting when you walk into an inevitably-overstuffed movie theater is something singular that reflects our age in a way that none of the MCU films that preceded it have - indeed, very few Hollywood spectacles ever have," while Matthew Lickona of the San Diego Reader noted, "The MCU will go on and on, but this chapter - and the American pragmatism vs. American ideals bromance that drove it - have well and truly come to their 'Excelsior! Nuff said!' moment."

You can catch it at Atlas Cinemas at Shaker Square (13116 Shaker Square) through Thursday, May 23. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

Get Out Your Handkerchiefs

Solange is depressed: she's stopped smiling, she eats little and she says less. She has fainting fits. Her husband, Raoul, seeks to save her by enlisting Stephane, a stranger, to be her lover. Although he listens to Mozart and has every pocket book arranged in alphabetical order, Stephane fails to cheer Solange. She knits. She does housework. Everyone, including their neighbor, a vegetable vendor, agrees that she needs a child, yet she fails to get pregnant by either lover. The three take a job running a kids' summer camp where they meet Christian, the precocious 13-year-old son of the local factory manager. It is Christian who restores Solange to laughter.

With a Tomatometer Score of 86 percent and an Audience Score of 89 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, this 1978 release is a good bet.

"'Get Out Your Handkerchiefs' may not shock the way it once did, but it remains the purest expression of Blier's comic métier, treating naughty ideas with the straightest of faces," according to Robert Abele of the Los Angeles Times, while Battleship Pretension's David Bax said, "Beware; no matter how much 'Get Out Your Handkerchiefs' mocks the patriarchy, it's far from woke. Maybe that's the point?"

It's screening at Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque (11610 Euclid Ave.) through Sunday, May 19. Click here for showtimes and tickets.

A Dog's Journey

Bailey is living the good life on the farm of Ethan and Hannah. As Bailey’s soul prepares to leave this life for a new one, he promises Ethan to find CJ and protect her at any cost.

Released on Friday, May 17, "A Dog's Journey" already has a Tomatometer Score of 67 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Variety's Guy Lodge said, "A steady stream of corn-syrup sentiment binding what would otherwise amount to a feature-length montage of adorable doggy reaction GIFs," and the Hollywood Reporter's Leslie Felperin noted, "It quietly boosts a message of resilience and self-belief to young girl audiences, advising them that it's always a smarter move to love nice boys and dogs rather than abusive jerks and pet haters."

Pokémon Detective Pikachu

In a world where people collect pocket-size monsters (Pokémon) to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent monster who seeks to be a detective.

With a Tomatometer Score of 64 percent and an Audience Score of 85 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, "Pokémon Detective Pikachu" is well worth a watch. The Globe and Mail's Daniel Kaszor said, "'Detective Pikachu' is unrelentingly weird," while Vincent Acovino of NPR stated, "There's something admirable about a film that isn't afraid to have some fun with a property so established - and beloved - by its core audience."
