Movie stars in Boston: North End thrilled to host film shoot featuring local Oscar-winning actors

Businesses in Boston’s North End couldn’t be any happier that Bova’s Bakery is hosting a pair of local Oscar-winning actors this week for the production of a feature film.

The Salem Street bakery is taking a break from serving up their delicious breads, cakes, cookies, and pastries through March 24 due to the filming of “The Instigators.

The Instigators, an Apple Original film starring Matt Damon and Casey Affleck, “follows two thieves who go on the run with the help of one of their therapists after a robbery goes awry,” Deadline reported.

“It’s super exciting. I mean everybody in Boston, it hits home when those actors come back,” said Kaileen Bernasconi, Director of Operations at Monica’s Enterprises. “Everyone’s excited, all of our staff. The ones who live locally can’t wait to come out to see it. It’s nice to have people like that in the neighborhood and bring attention to our area.”

Filming this week will comprise both interior and exterior scenes from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. An array of parking restrictions are in place on neighborhood streets.

Online orders placed during the closure will not ship until Monday, March 27, Bova’s said.

The bakery closed on Monday. It will reopen on Saturday.
