More than 600 people have already signed up to audition to star in a feature-length film that will be a sequel to Crossover, a movie by D'Aja Fulmore filmed last year in New Bern and surrounding areas. The movie is currently streaming on TUBI.

In April, D'Aja Fulmore of Fulmore Films signed a major film deal with Homestead Entertainment, a Los Angeles and New York-based global distribution company.

The movie premiered on the streaming network channel on July 29 and remained on its most popular list for two weeks. It slipped as new movies aired, but returned to the most watched list a week later.

Jamal Woolard and Clifton Jamil Powell will be returning for their roles in the sequel. There will be others as well, but Fulmore did not want to disclose that information so as to not give away details that would delve into the storyline.

"The reason I chose to do the audition option is that I wanted to give the community a chance to be more involved," she said. "Even though we opened the door with the first film, I felt an audition would be a grand invitation to the community."

Fulmore said this production would not be done under her company, Fulmore Films.

"I have actually partnered with a production company out of Los Angeles," she said. "I have a potential deal on the table but I am not at liberty to disclose too much information."

Auditions for Crossover 2 will be held in person from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 at The Omega Center at 800 Cedar Street.

Open movie roles are for a female and male detective, waitress, exotic female dancers, party attendees, male police chief, bartender, female and male model, basketball players and a female child actor between the ages of 4 and 6. Participants are welcome to bring a headshot and resume, but it is not required.

Fulmore said the building will be divided into sections for each role.

"Although it will probably be a good size crowd, it should flow smoothly," she said. "I have a team that will be helping to narrow down potential candidates."

To be emailed a copy of the script for the role you are auditioning for, visit cognitoforms.com. If you do not sign up, you may still audition.

"People can still come, but it will make the audition a little more difficult than if you have the script," Fulmore said. "They will have to perform off the cuff."

Due to the number of performers, upon your arrival, you will be assigned a number. There will be a food vendor on-site. To ensure the safety of everyone, security will be in place.

Those interested in auditioning are asked to watch Crossover prior as you will be asked questions regarding the film to ensure you are familiar with the storyline.

Those selected for roles will be contacted by the production team within a week following auditions.

"There are at least 100 people from out of state who have signed up for the audition, said Fulmore. "It's truly a blessing."

Filming is scheduled to start in late October or early November. It will again be filmed locally and is expected to be completed in January.
