Have you picked out your Halloween costume this year? If you bought a movie-related costume last year, chances are you can still wear it this year and be on trend.

Plans for Halloween celebrations abound this year as El Pasoans continue to enjoy life after a cruel and truly scary pandemic.

From the looks of Spirit and Party City stores, here are some of the top costume choices so far, according to employees.

Michael Myers

With the release of "Halloween Ends," Oct. 14, following the "Halloween Kills" sequel last year, the fandom for killer Myer remains at the top of the list for males. Spirit stores are selling plenty of white latex masks for both men and boys.

Add a pair of coveralls and a brown hair wig, and the costume is ready to go out in the streets.

Clowns seem to be among the popular costumes for young men this Halloween in El Paso.

Clowns

They are not always popular at kids' parties, but clowns, for some reason, still take plenty of wall space. This year, the clowns seem to take on a more realistic or eerie look including a raggedy doll mask.

Anyway, Spirit stores have a good selection from the one similar in "It" to standard clown noses and makeup.

Chucky

With eight movies focused on one very creepy doll, it might not be a surprise that Chucky continues to be a fun choice in Halloween costumes. While people may not agree on which movie is the best, most will agree the scary doll with threatening eyes might be an excellent choice to scare a few trick or treaters.

And this year, Chucky's murderous friend, Tiffany Valentine, will probably be lurking around neighborhoods as well.

Don't know if it's the threatening eyes or red scars, but Chucky is a scary and popular costume for Halloween this year.

Disney characters

Disney characters always seem to be in the mix when it comes to Halloween costumes. This year, "Encanto" makes it to the costume leader board with characters like Mirabel and Bruno.

Or if you're more interested in villains, Maleficent or Cruella de Vil are always fun options. Maleficent is a fun look to create with a long black dress and her signature horned headpiece. The two-piece costume retails for about $60 as well. Or look on TikTok on how to create her head look with foil and electrical tape.

Buzz Lightyear

"Lightyear," released in theaters in June of this year also seems like a solid choice for boys' costumes this year. Who doesn't look in an astronaut costume?

Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Chris Evans, right) leads a mission with wannabe space rangers (Keke Palmer, Dale Soules and Taika Waititi) and his feline robot companion Sox in Pixar's "Lightyear."
