Watch a movie, attend a festival or paint for a cause at events happening this weekend in Springfield.

Movies in the Park

Join the Springfield Park District for Movies in the Park on Friday.

A free showing of "Top Maverick" begins at sunset, which will be approximately 8 p.m., at Lincoln Park, 1601 N. Fifth St.

"Top Maverick" is an action film about a test pilot who trains top gun graduates for a specialized mission. Tom Cruise stars in the movie along with Jennifer Connelly, Val Kilmer, Miles Teller, and Monica Barbaro.

Route 66 Rockabilly Honky Tonk Festival

Listen to rock and shop at the Rumble on Route 66 Rockabilly Honky Tonk Festival on Saturday.

The event begins at 1 p.m. at the Stadium Smokehouse Bar and Grill, 2300 N. Peoria Rd.

Live performances from Hillbilly Casino, Jane Rose and the Dead Ends, Folsom Prison Five, Bruiser Queen, Rolling Sixes, and Go Tsunami will be featured. There will also be a pin up contest, a variety of vendors, and bikes.

Lake Press Summerfest

Rock out on the sunny shores of Lake Springfield at the annual Lake Press Summerfest on Saturday.

The event runs from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. at the Lake Press Club, 13 Club Area.

Sunshine Daydream will perform Grateful Dead songs and food and drinks will be available.

The show is open to all ages. Admission is free.

Mahogany Knight's Spectacular Drag Show

Prepare to be amazed at Mahogany Knight's Spectacular Drag Show on Saturday.

The show begins at 10:30 pm at Clique, 411 E. Washington St.

Mahogany Knight, Deanna Knight, Coco Sho-Nell, and Vivian Dejour will perform to tunes by DJ J. The dance floor will open immediately after the show until 3 a.m.

Paint Night

Create art for a cause during Paint Night with Ashley Blake on Sunday.

The event runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. upstairs at Harvest Market, 3001 S. Veterans Parkway.

Ashley Blake, will guide participants through a step-by-step painting session. No prior painting experience is necessary. All supplies will be provided.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Tickets are $35 and proceeds will support the American Cancer Society.
