According to data from Redfin analyzed by Florida Realtors, Florida metro areas are strongly desired by potential homebuyers who are looking to move out of state.

How were these statistics obtained?

The data used was based on 2 million home searches conducted through Redfin’s website and covers more than 100 U.S. metro areas from July to September.

Florida Realtors report states that almost 26% of homebuyers were looking to move out of state in the third quarter of 2023.

The report notes that Florida's metro areas remain desirable despite drops in demand since the early days of the pandemic.

"While overall demand has dropped some since the early days of the pandemic and work-from-home changes, the state continues to attract new residents, unlike some pandemic hotspots that have seen demand drop," the report said.

Where are new Cape Coral residents coming from?

Of Cape Coral's 3,300 new residents in the third quarter, the top spot they were arriving from was Chicago.
