Reward offered for dog missing after AR bank robbery and chase

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Crime Stoppers is now offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the return of a dog that was inside of a car stolen outside The Fresh Market Thursday.

At approximately 5 p.m., officers responded to a motor vehicle theft at The Fresh Market at 2145 Union Avenue. Now, police are on the lookout for the suspect responsible for stealing the car with the dog, Yoshi, still inside.

According to police, the stolen car was used to rob a bank in West Memphis, Arkansas on Friday. After the robbery, the driver fled across the river in the car and crashed near Riverside Drive in Downtown Memphis.

The vehicle was later found, but the dog was not inside.

According to Crime Stoppers, Yoshi’s owner is offering a $2,000 reward for anyone who can get Yoshi back home safe. She says that Yoshi has some sight and hearing loss and needs daily medication for hip pain.

Freddie Najil was taken into custody after authorities say he allegedly robbed the Evolve Bank and Trust in West Memphis and taking police on a chase, ending a crash and brief foot pursuit.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
