Trump arraigned, pleads not guilty
A grim-faced Donald Trump was placed under arrest and pleaded not guilty in Washington Thursday on federal charges that he tried to steal the 2020 election. The former president warmed up for his court appearance by calling for the trial to be moved from heavily Democratic Washington, D.C., to a more Republican-friendly place like West Virginia. "This Indictment is all about Election Interference!!!" Trump – the front-running Republican candidate for 2024 – said in a Truth Social post. Our live coverage from inside the courtroom.
