ST. IGNACE – All ages are welcome to participate in a community event to help support Mackinac Straits Health System (MSHS). “Run for the Health of It” is a 5K Run/Walk and 10K Run taking place this month in St. Ignace. Presenting Sponsor is Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry Company.

The event will begin and end at Mackinac Straits Hospital, 1140 North State Street, St. Ignace on Saturday, August 20, starting at 9 a.m. People can take part in person, or virtually. Registration is $35 for either distance and includes a free t-shirt and a medal. Proceeds benefit services at MSHS.

“We are getting support from many local businesses and organizations for this event,” said Mike Grisdale, MSHS Marketing Director. “Not only will it help support our health system by providing funding for needed equipment and patient care items, but it also a great activity to promote community wellness. It is designed as a fun time for the family, and is one of the few running events taking place in our area this season.”

“This year’s route starts at Mackinac Straits Hospital, goes out the front entrance, north on State Street, turns on North Airport road, to South Airport Road and back to North State Street returning to the hospital campus,” said Lani Fettig, race organizer. She is also a long-term care recreational therapist at the Evergreen Living Center. “This is going be a great event, fun for the whole family,” Fettig added. Awards will be handed out to the top finisher in each age division. To register visit www.runsignup.com. For more information on registration or volunteering, call (906) 328-0006.
