MSP: Man, 2 dogs die in crash near Three Rivers

FABIUS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Troopers say a Constantine man and two dogs died Friday in a Fabius Township crash.

It happened just after 11 a.m. on US-131 near M-60, according to the Michigan State Police.

A Ford Escape was heading south when it crossed the center line, troopers say. The driver of a northbound semitractor-trailer tried to avoid the Ford but could not, according to MSP.

Troopers say the driver of the Ford, a 66-year-old Constantine man, died on scene, as did two dogs that were in the vehicle. His name was not released Friday.

The 60-year-old Indiana man driving the semitractor-trailer was not hurt, according to MSP.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts when the crash happened.

Troopers say it’s not yet clear if drugs or alcohol were involved. The crash remains under investigation.
