MSP: Suspected fentanyl, cocaine, guns found in Covert Twp.

COVERT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Detectives say a man has been arrested after apparent fentanyl, cocaine and firearms were found in a drug trafficking investigation at a Covert Township home.

The Southwest Enforcement Team, a multiagency drug task force, had been investigating drug trafficking from a home on the 73,000 block of 34th Avenue, near North Street, according to a release from the Michigan State Police.

On Tuesday, SWET detectives carried out a search warrant. They found more than 60 grams of apparent fentanyl — about half of which took the form of counterfeit oxycodone pills, according to MSP. Detectives say they also found over 100 grams of suspected cocaine, 28 grams of crack cocaine and three firearms.

A 26-year-old Covert man was arrested, according to MSP. Detectives say the man, whose name was not released Wednesday, faces charges of possession with intent to deliver cocaine, crack cocaine and over 50 grams of fentanyl, as well as maintaining a drug house.

MSP told News 8 the man who was arrested was a guest and former resident of the home, but not its owner. The Van Buren County prosecutor will review additional charges against the owner of the home, according to MSP.

SWET detectives say they were aided by Covert Township police and two MSP K-9 units.
