MSSU golf squads wrap up play in respective tourneys

Sep. 28—The Missouri Southern golf teams wrapped up play in two tournaments on Tuesday afternoon.

On the women's side, the Lions finished in 10th place at the Fort Hays State Lady Tiger Classic.

MSSU was led by Julianna Washka who finished with an 18-hole score of 164 to tie for 26th. Lily Allman shot 165 over the two rounds to finish tied for 29th, while Filippa Guldberg was 39th at 167. Kylie Carnes shot 170 and was tied for 46th, while Lucy Moss shot 179 over the 36 holes.

Central Missouri took the team title, 18 strokes in front of second-place Rogers State.

The MSSU men placed 13th with a 305 at its fall invitational at Shangri-La Country Club.

Tradgon McCrae led the way for the Lions and finished tied for 14th with a 54-round total of 221. McCrae had three birdies over the final 18 holes. Ben Epperly was tied for 36th after a final-round 73 gave him a score of 227 over 54 holes. Epperly had four birdies and an eagle in the final round.

Ben Marckmann had four birdies and shot 74 in the final round to finish with a score of 231, while Connor Williamson shot a 238 and Dylan Bagley had a 251.

Missouri-St. Louis took the team title after winning a playoff hole with Henderson State to determine the championship.

On the women's side, the Lions will be back in action on Oct. 17 when Southern takes part in the Midwest Classic hosted by Northwest Missouri at Mozingo Golf Course in Maryville.

The Southern men will be back in action on Oct. 10 when the Lions travel to St. Joseph to take part in the MWSU Invitational hosted at St. Joseph Country Club.
