MSU Pavilion hosts Lansing Home and Garden Show

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Mid Michigan’s largest home & garden show is coming back to the MSU Pavilion.

According to officials, there will be exhibits featuring new construction, remodeling, kitchens and baths, retail garden centers, pools and spas, and home services all under one roof.

“It’s so much better than searching the internet, asking, you know, trying to find frequently asked questions or whatever. You know, you’re building relationships and walking up to a person and saying, here’s a picture on my phone. This is what is leaking in my basement. This is the kitchen cabinet that I want to redo,” Carolyn Alt, Lansing Home and Garden Senior Show Manager said.

Alt said running the Lansing Home and Garden Show creates an opportunity for one-on-one interactions, and personal relationships, and she thinks that’s why people come back year after year.

“My favorite part is watching the folks who have never come to the show. Just be wowed, just be impressed,” Alt said.

“They’re actually able to have a successful experience here, find the help that they need, leave with the solutions and the expert advice that they need to fix their homes, solve their problems, make it build a new dream home, maybe put it in a hobbit house.”

Featured at the event this weekend is a 5000gallon fuel oil drum, turned hobbit home- for all of Mid Michigan to step in.

Kyle Rutkowski, Crooked Tree Nursery said most of the materials are recycled and are actually up for sale.

“Oh, I hope they’re just like, wow, where did this come from? And, you know, they’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve never seen anything like it. And that he’s never seen anything like it either. Just a vision. And now look at look what he’s created, and we’ve created,” Rutkowski said.

The Lansing Home and Garden Show starts today and runs through Sunday.
