MSU vs. Miami (FL) Prediction: Can Spartans get statement win against Hurricanes?

Michigan State is heading to South Beach.

The Spartans will travel to Miami (FL) this weekend to take on the Hurricanes in a big-time match-up for both programs. Michigan State enters the game a perfect 2-0 and with plenty of momentum in what feels like a huge opportunity for the program. Miami on the other side is off to a relatively rough start at 1-1, and looking to get things back on track against the Spartans.

Can Michigan State prove they’re for real against a solid Miami (FL) Hurricanes squad? Let’s see what the Spartans Wire staff thinks in our weekly predictions.

Prediction: MSU - 35, Miami (FL) - 17

The Spartans have earned some confidence heading into this one based on two solid weeks. Am I nervous? Sure. But the Spartans have earned my respect and that’s reflected here.

Prediction: MSU - 27, Miami (FL) - 31

Michigan State has gotten off to a great start this season, but it just feels like a reality check is ready to take place. I’m not confident in the Spartans secondary just yet, and Miami’s QB D’eriq King can exploit the defense through the air and on the ground. I think MSU gets edged out here.

Prediction: MSU - 31, Miami (FL) - 27

I've gone back and forth on this prediction all week, but I'm leaning towards the Spartans pulling the upset. Miami (FL) has the better athletes but that gap isn't as big as I originally thought entering the season. I think the Spartans are going to establish the run against a Hurricanes rush defense that has struggled so far this year and Kenneth Walker III will be the difference in a close game.
