The Michigan State women's basketball team will be without coach Suzy Merchant when it takes the court this afternoon against Northwestern.

The program released a statement just after noon that Merchant would be unavailable for the contest due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Merchant will also miss Wednesday's scheduled matchup at Indiana.
