Hamilton-Denson: Work is underway on eight multi-use fields near Tate Lane and West Division that will mainly be used for youth practices.

The site near Victory Baptist Church will include more than 90 parking spots that will tie into the nearby Town Center Greenway as a midpoint trailhead, Mt. Juliet Parks Director Rocky Lee said.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation has also awarded a $430,000 matching parks and recreation grant to go toward a restroom building and playground.

The goal is to complete work sometime in September, Lee said.

Mundy Park: Work has started on upgrades to include three new tennis courts and four pickleball courts, along with more than 50 parking spots.

The goal is to finish the tennis and pickleball courts in August. The work at Mundy Park is designed to relieve Charlie Daniels Park, which has four tennis courts and six pickleball courts.

Mt. Juliet will pay just over $1.57 million for the project, according to the agreement with Holm Court.

Cedar Creek Greenway: Construction continues on trail — from Charlie Daniels Park to Golden Bear Gateway near Mt. Juliet High School.

Work includes a new bridge. Completion is estimated for the fall.

Grace Park stalls: The city and Grace United Methodist Church had agreed on a $1 annual lease for 30 years to use roughly 12 acres of church land off North Mt. Juliet Road for a park.

Phase 1 was to include a dog park and parking lot with initial estimates a little over $100,000, Lee said. But rising prices put bids closer to $750,000, according to Lee, and the city elected not to move forward.

"We've got other parks that really need our funds right now," Lee said.

Grace United Methodist leadership "will continue to consider ways we can use the property to build community in Mount Juliet," Pastor Jeff Streszoff said.

Lebanon moves ahead on sports complex: The first phase for a new Lebanon sports complex that includes five soccer fields with LED lighting, a walking trail and playground was approved recently by the city council.

The complex will be developed on Highway 231 South with land the city purchased in 2018.

Parking, a concession and restroom building and pavilion are also part of Phase 1.

Funding proposed for the project is $17 million with just over $9.4 million to be used from the city’s general fund.
