Mt. Juliet Police will increase patrol around the gravesite of late music superstar Charlie Daniels after reports of theft and minor vandalism.

A social media post by Team CDB states that a newly planted dogwood sapling and its watering bag were recently taken from the gravesite at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens where Daniels is buried.

The dogwood sapling replaced one of six that were planted last year by family, according to the Team CDB post.

And several months ago a spouse's military identification was superglued to the marble of the marker, according to the Team CDB post.

The family allows people to leave items at the gravesite, but not to glue them to the marker, the post states. Daniels was well-known for his support of the military.

Daniels, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame who resided in Wilson County, died in July 2020 at age 83.

No police reports were filed on the theft or military ID, Mt. Juliet Police Department Capt. Tyler Chandler said.

But the department was asked to increase patrol because of the incidents, Chandler said. Mt. Juliet police are complying with the request.
