Trina Watson will be the speaker at the Women’s Interfaith Dialogue’s virtual meeting at 11 a.m. Monday.

Watson is the first lady of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. She serves the community through two outreach ministries of the church: the Christian Response Ministry and the Monday Evening Study Session.

According to a WID news release, the "Christian Response Ministry mission is to provide tangible support in response to the needs of God’s people, locally and through foreign missions; to promote the spiritual uplifting of God’s people; to honor and glorify God by serving one another in love. This mission is fulfilled locally by reaching out to families in (a) selected community housing complex to donate tangible items and give of their time in response to family needs.

"The Monday Evening Study Session Tutorial Program aims to help the children and youth of our community transition to a godly life of continuous learning and service after high school. The primary mission is to “prepare children for works of service," the release stated.

Watson is an active member in the community through the church. She is described in the release as a strong supporter in ministry work as the first lady with her husband, Pastor Henry D.C. Watson.

"She has been given an unrelenting heart of passion for Christian evangelism, discipleship and ministering to the needs of others. This has been demonstrated through her service and involvement in various mission ministries within the church and extending out to the community, according to the release. She is also an active member of the “Scarboro 85” Monument Committee and the Oak Ridge-Anderson County NAACP Chapter. She holds a BBA degree in accounting from Tennessee State University. She has worked for several companies and held positions in accounting, human resources, staffing and office management.

The Women’s Interfaith Dialogue was established in 2009, it includes women and men from many faith groups and others who are unaffiliated. The programs cover many aspects of the community with an emphasis on women and children. The focus of WID over the years has expanded to include services and needs that provide opportunities to build a stronger community for all.

The public is invited to this virtual meeting. To receive the Zoom meeting information, contact Jane Palmer at palmerjf@comcast.net.
