MU graduate loses everything in Davenport, Iowa, apartment collapse. Sets up GoFundMe

A recent University of Missouri graduate is having to start from scratch after the apartment building she moved into Saturday collapsed Sunday in Davenport, Iowa.

Elizabeth Pruitt, who moved to Davenport from Southwest Missouri, created a GoFundMe to recoup what was lost in the building collapse.

"Physically, I’m fine. ... I have lost everything and currently don’t have anywhere to go. I’m in a hotel and I’m safe but now have to find housing and try to replace everything I’ve lost," she wrote on the GoFundMe page she created.

Pruitt luckily was out getting groceries when the collapse occurred, but her cat was trapped inside, she wrote in the GoFundMe information. It was reported later that Pruitt was safely reunited with her cat Lulu.

She had not yet secured renters insurance due to the Memorial Day holiday weekend. She was expecting to get that insurance Tuesday.

The GoFundMe has raised $1,820 of a $5,000 goal as of Wednesday morning. Demolition of the building means she has lost items from her time in a study abroad program from January, posters from the Memphis Van Gogh Experience, a camera with pictures of Pruitt and her friends before they graduated and a hard drive including "all of my work and photos on it and so much more."
