How Much Is COVID Spreading In Bucks County With Delta, Omicron?

BUCKS COUNTY, PA — As COVID-19 cases surge and tests run low around the country, the Bucks County Department of Health released the latest local numbers Thursday.

Between Dec. 16 and Dec. 23, COVID-19 cases in Bucks County increased by 257 since the prior week, for a total of 1,811 cases reported.

Of those, 229 cases were in children under 11, an increase of five from the prior week. For children between the ages of 12 and 18, cases increased by 20 for a total of 195 positive cases.

Nine people died from COVID-19, with three of those having been delayed reports from the prior two weeks.

The county's percent positivity rate of 11.9 percent stayed stable, though it remains high.

The county health department said 131 people were in the hospital with COVID-19 last week, a decrease of two from the week before. Ten of those patients were on ventilators, an increase of one from the previous week.

As of Dec. 23, 367,448 people were fully vaccinated, with 4,179 people receiving their second shot in the past week.

Bucks is also offering booster shots, which the CDC now says offer more protection against the omicron variant, at locations around the county including in Langhorne, Northampton, New Hope, Newtown, Doylestown, Bristol, Levittown, Bensalem, and Warminster.
