The landscape of College Football has changed drastically over the last few years and appears to keep changing.
With NIL and the transfer portal being heavyweights in the college football world, how much longer will the Alabama Crimson Tide and Nick Saban continue to dominate? Radio show host Paul Finebaum joined ESPN’s First Take recently to discuss the latest headlines in college football, which includes the feud between Saban and Texas A&M’s Jimbo Fisher.
When asked if the direction of College Football will close Saban’s Championship window soon, Finebaum says that he believes that it will happen over time.
You have Jimbo Fisher, who came close a couple of years ago to the Playoff, now moving up in the rankings. Kirby Smart, who had more draft choices a couple of months ago, a couple of weeks ago I should say in Vegas than Alabama. So, I think it’s going to get more difficult. You have competition from out West in Lincoln Riley, who I think is going to start dominating the Pac-12. So, I don’t want to say that it’s over for Nick Saban, but I think it’s going to get far more difficult to win championships. Right now, he’s been winning them at a pace of about every other year.
Currently, Alabama has the highest chance to win the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship with +200 odds according to FanDuel. Behind Alabama, is Georgia, Ohio State, Clemson, and USC.
