How much LSU's NCAA championship game run has made coach Kim Mulkey in bonus money

DALLAS – LSU women's basketball's unexpected run to the NCAA national championship game has been fruitful for the athletic department, university and program.

It's also been valuable for Tigers coach Kim Mulkey as well.

Leading LSU (33-2) to the NCAA title game, Mulkey has racked up $334,000 in incentives so far this postseason. Mulkey's Tigers will meet Iowa (31-6) inside American Airlines Center Sunday afternoon (2:30 p.m., ABC).

Per the terms of her contract with LSU, Mulkey earned a $105,000 bonus for winning the Final Four game over Virginia Tech Friday night.

She pulled in $28,000 for the Tigers making the NCAA Tournament, then $30,000 for making the round of 32, $33,000 for the team's Sweet 16 appearance, $38,000 for getting to the Elite Eight before earning an $50,000 bonus for LSU reaching the Final Four.

If LSU wins the national championship Sunday, Mulkey will earn an additional $150,000 incentive, which will top her bonuses at $484,000 for the 2022-23 season.

LSU's coach is one of the highest-paid women's basketball coaches in the country and in year two of her eight-year deal, Mulkey is making $2.139 million before bonus payout. By the end of her initial contract, Mulkey is scheduled to earn $2.9 million annually.
