How Much Massachusetts Households Make Per Year: Census
For those who can never stop comparing, the Census released an early Christmas gift. The 2013-2017 American Community Survey issued by the Census last week disclosed a mountain of data, including how much household income is reported in each community.
Cost of living aside, Massachusetts appears to be much better off than much of the country. The statewide median household income is $74,167, far surpassing the nationwide median of $57,652.

Dover topped the list with a median household income of $204,018. It was one of 13 communities to enjoy a median household income over $150,000.
Monroe, the second-smallest town in terms of population in Massachusetts, had by far the lowest median household income at $31,458. (There was no data available for the Gosnold, the only town smaller than Monroe.) Springfield, one of the largest cities in the state, had the second-lowest median household income at $37,118.
In all, there were 18 communities - including Worcester, Lawrence and Lowell - with median household incomes under $50,000.
