'We have so much more work to do': Grassroots Family Chiropractic expands in Marshall

MARSHALL — On a Friday afternoon in downtown Marshall, Dr. Abby Sirovica quickly grabbed her cell phone to re-read a text message from a client.

The Battle Creek native couldn't help but smile as she shared the message aloud.

"You’ve built a culture where members are happy to be there and it feels like home," the text message read. "Yes, it was a busy day and I had to wait a bit, but I never got annoyed. Keep crushing it."

The message embodies the relaxed, patient-first atmosphere Sirovica and her team have cultivated at Grassroots Family Chiropractic in Battle Creek, helping families, children and even pregnant moms on their individual wellness journeys since 2017.

Having grown consistently through word of mouth and eager to reach more people, Sirovica expanded the practice in mid-May with a new location in Marshall, 115 S. Grand St., Suite 3. Grassroots is currently leasing the space, allowing them to "get their feet wet" in the city while they look for a more permanent home in the Marshall area.

"Marshall’s just been this really welcoming, easy transition for us. It’s been so good," Sirovica explained Friday. "We’re just in a complete state of gratitude."

The Marshall location will focus solely on chiropractic work, though clients may also be referred to one of Grassroots' Battle Creek locations which also offer massage therapy, nutritional consultations and an infrared sauna.

Grassroots does not accept insurance, but instead offers patients a variety of membership options.

"We don’t work for an insurance company," Sirovica told the Enquirer previously. "We work directly for our patients and are able to make it really affordable and accessible for them."

On Friday afternoon, Dr. Emily Endres performed several chiropractic adjustments for clients in Marshall. The new location is busy and "being able to reach that many more people has been a blessing," she said.

"The people, they think we’re here to help them and I think it’s 100% the other way around," Endres explained. "I think for me, that exchange of energy is as much of a healing process for me as it is for them. I simply love what I do every single day and the people who I get to stand by and do it with."

The Grassroots team of Endres, Sirovica and Dr. Victoria Smith are certified in pregnancy and pediatric chiropractic work, allowing them to assist not only teens and adults, but also children and those expecting.

The variety of clientele, coupled with the conversational atmosphere throughout the practice, has helped form a community among clients, as it's not uncommon to see parents conversing in the lobby about various experiences and challenges surrounding health and wellness.

"You don’t just get us as docs, you get every single person that comes through that Grassroots door," Endres said. "(That’s) your whole team right there."

Sirovica admittedly never envisioned expanding outside of Battle Creek, but as she explains, it's truly happened organically. While there's satisfaction in being able to reach more people, she's also aware of many more that are in need.

"It’s really weird to hold gratitude and grief at the same time," Sirovica said. "There’s so much gratitude and also there’s this weird line of grief in the fact of like you want to always help more people ... We have so much more work to do."

Grassroots Family Chiropractic's Marshall location is open from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays, 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays and noon to 2 p.m. on Fridays.
