How much more rain will the Miami area see over the weekend? What the forecast says

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued Friday afternoon, through 1:30 p.m., for the Homestead and Florida City areas. According to the National Weather Service in Miami the storm could pack 60 mph winds and nickel-sized hail.

Flood watch
The National Weather Service in Miami issued a flood watch Wednesday for South Florida that remains in effect through Friday night.
Affected areas include:
▪ Coastal Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
▪ Far South Miami-Dade.
▪ Inland Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
▪ Metro Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
▪ Glades and Hendry counties.
According to forecasters, including CBS News Miami meteorologist Lissette Gonzalez, one to four inches of rain, with the potential for five or more inches, are possible into the weekend.

Weekend temperatures should run in the mid-80s during the day and mid-70s at night.

According to the weather service, the Miami area has seen an estimated 1 to 1.5 inches of rain since Wednesday. The Fort Lauderdale area has seen 1.5 to 2 inches. Palm Beach County has been wetter, with 3 to 4 inches.

Florida Keys
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are possible Friday and Saturday in the Keys, according to the weather service in Key West. Compared to the Miami area, the chances are not as high — just 30% Friday and 20% Saturday. Sunday’s rain chances are 10%. Highs will reach the upper-80s and lows will dip into the upper-70s.
